Serving public works professionals across the Granite State
New Hampshire Public Works Association
NHPWA is the professional association for the people who keep New Hampshire towns and cities running: public works directors, highway and water crews, engineers, and the firms that work alongside them. We bring members together for technical meetings, site visits, member socials and professional development, with one goal in mind: better public works service for every New Hampshire resident.
Our Mission
Leadership for public works in every corner of New Hampshire
NHPWA exists to be a highly visible professional organization that provides leadership to enhance the ethical, technical, administrative and educational development of all public works matters throughout the State of New Hampshire, with the goal of improving the overall service provided to the citizens of New Hampshire.
That mission is carried by members, not staff. Our board is made up of working public works professionals, and our Bylaws and Operating Rules were approved by a vote of the membership on May 14, 2026.
What NHPWA does for members
Technical Meetings
Our Fall Technical Meeting is a half day of practical sessions for public works staff and engineers. Recent fall sessions have been held in Manchester, and the 2026 meeting is set for October 22.
Board Meetings and Member Socials
The board meets throughout the year, and some meetings double as a member social so new and longtime members can connect, like the November 2026 Board Meeting and Member Social.
Project Site Visits
Members see real projects up close. In 2022, NHPWA toured the downtown Peterborough project and shared lunch with the team behind it.
Professional Development
The NHPWA Professional Development Program helps members build skills and advance their public works careers.
A Statewide Network
Membership puts you in touch with peers in other towns and cities who have already solved the problem you are facing, from winter operations to capital projects.
Member-Governed
NHPWA is run by its members under bylaws and operating rules the membership approves, so the association stays focused on what New Hampshire public works teams need.
